Jacques Vilet
Forêt dOrient
2001

The Observatoire photographique du paysage's aim is to create a photographic archive enabling the analysis of the mechanisms which transform the landscape and the protagonists who cause them, in order favourable influence landscape evolution. The Parc naturel régional de la Forêt d'Orient commissioned Jacques Vilet, from 1997 to 2000, to take a hundred photographs, forty of which have been rephotographed yearly on around the same date, identically framed and under the same weather conditions. This photographic commission is part of nationwide project put in place by the French environment ministry, being carried out by artists in collaboration with local authorities. The "Forêt d'Orient" includes photographs chosen by the artist and complete up-to-date catalogue of the photographic results.
